PART 1
TIME: 01:25 Introduction of the Studio guests: Br Zahid Malik and Br Bilal Khan, the Director and Assistant Director of the Therapy Clinic in Manchester, who have 7 years experience between them and have a clinic in Manchester and Blackburn.
TIME: 03:00 Components of Human Anatomy, Blood, Bones, Muscle, Tissue etc. Waste accumulates in the blood, as well as lymphatic waste. In a basic sense, Blood is what circulates in the body to enable the rest of the components to function and Hijama basically cleans the blood, and improves circulation by clearing blockages and stagnation if present.
TIME: 04:20 Background: Hijama is quite an ancient therapy, possibly 2500 years old, with links to ancient China and Egypt. The aim of the Therapy Clinic is promote hijama as done and encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad who is reported to have mentioned it in many ahadith (Collection of various Reports from the Prophets life from his companions and contemporaries), and it has many benefits for health.
TIME 05:10 Benefits: For example it can help with diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, cardio-vascular, and circulatory diseases and paralysis as well as digestive problems, skin problems, infertility, hairloss etc. But it is also good for general well-being, as a preventative medicine and to combat lethargy. In that sense, it is a bit like an oil-change service of a car by filtering out the accumulated waste in the blood, and thereby helps improve blood circulation throughout the body. So has numerous benefits.
TIME 08:40 Religious: Hijama is a Sunnah as it is mentioned in over 20 ahadith, specifying when (which dates and days in the month) it is to be done and how it is to be done , and what benefits it has for health.

"The best of your treatments is cupping"(Reference: Al Bukhari, 5371)
Anas ibn Maalik reported that the Messenger said,"Indeed the best of remedies you have is cupping (hijama)…" [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5371)].
Abdullah ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger said, "I did not pass by an angel from the angels on the night journey except that they all said to me: Upon you is cupping (hijama), O Muhammad." [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3477)].
Anas ibn Maalik reported that the Messenger said, "Whoever wants to perform cupping (hijama) then let him wait for the 17th, 19th and 21st of the month (of the lunar calendar) [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3486)].
PART 2
TIME 01:00 Training: The Therapy Clinic staff have trained in Madina, Saudi Arabia, and with NHNF who are accredited by the Complementary Medical Association, and are trying to revive this Sunnah which has benefits for various conditions.
TIME 02:10 Question from caller: "Please elaborate how cupping / hijama is done, also how can it help with my blood circulation issues".
Firstly, all equipment is single-use and disposable, blades, tissues, glove, cups. Secondly for pain conditions, cups are normally placed on the area of pain, for example on the knees, on the back ie wherever the pain is. You then apply suction for about 10-15 minutes, which helps stretch the skin, relax the muscles and increase the blood flow in the are, so the blood is drawn to the surface of the skin. We then take the cup off, and do slight incisions on the area. You then replace the cup back on the site, and slowly over 10-15 minutes, the blood is drawn into the cup. There is an element of pain, but it very limited and bearable.
Please note this is a complementary therapy so liaise with your GP and continue your conventional treatment before trying and using the therapy.
TIME 07:10 Question from second caller: "I have high blood pressure. I was taking 2.5mg blood pressure tablets, as a result of which my blood pressure would go too low. I am now on 1.25mg blood pressure tablets. My (systolic) blood pressure reading is normally 190-200. So what can you suggest for this?"
Please keep liaising with your GP. However generally Hijama helps to restore the body to its normal state and rebalances it. Therefore high blood pressure can also respond well to hijama, however we cannot comment on specific cases, as a consultation is done before the treatment, which takes into account the patients medical history, and age etc.
TIME 10:30 Question from third caller: I have knee pain, is there a remedy for it?
Joints can be a site of waste accumulation, therefore hijama can really help with joints. Also a special point to note is that there is a particular area on the body on the upper back, below the neck where it is reported in the hadith that it helps with upto 70 ailments, so that should also help knee pain looking at it holistically, but it can also be done on the areas of pain, so yes it can be done around the knee to relieve knee pain.
The general rule of thumb is: Wherever the pain is, we can detox that area, relieve inflammation and stagnant blood in the area so circulation improves in that area.
There are different points for different diseases.
TIME 01:05 Question from fourth caller: "Where is hijama mentioned in the Quran or hadith?"
Many ahadith exist for this, which can be viewed on our website, or by doing a Google search, which we in the west have unfortunately been unaware of. To quote one again:
TIME 03:10 Question from presenter: "Has Hijama cured any chronic illnesses?"
Two different angles: Hijama helps to alleviate illnesses from a physical sense as well as a spiritual sense.
From a medical sense, we have had someone with bone marrow cancer which is fairly common in Asian people in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh and UK as well. After doing cupping, the blood that came out quite strange and dark. After having a check-up at Christies Hospital he has been cleared from cancer, and he is now very fit and back into martial arts and much more better in his daily life.
Spiritually, when you take out any sort of waste or negativity from the body which can attract Shaitaan, or Jinn, this will help the body to be clean and alleviate problems like psychological problems, people affected by black-magic, evil-eye. Ruqyah and Hijama go side by side for this. We are not specialists in Ruqyah but if a patient has these issues we also refer to Ruqyah specialists.
TIME 06:20 Question from final caller: "Can you treat back pain due to slipped disc? I have had treatment in the hospital, and they gave me injection twice. There has been relief however I still have pain."
With back pain, we can again apply hijama wherever the pain is. In our experience, people who have had it done feel very relaxed as it helps the muscles, the nerves and blood flow. Bear in mind, the hospitals try their best, and we can also try our best, but the cure is from Allah. But we have had very good results with back pain.
Generally a very common complaint, however in this case it is a more severe form of back pain due to a slipped disc. But generally we have dealt with a lot of cases on a regular basis with lower back pain, shoulder pain, any muscular pain hijama is very effective. Please feel free to contact us.
TIME 08:45 Summing up by the presenter: As we have now run out of time, we have tried to advise of the benefits of Hijama and Ruqyah from the Sunnah, as general information as awareness to the community. But please liaise with your GP. Our guests have trained in this therapy and are regulated by the CMA, and have tried to give general information on the therapy, but the Shifa is of course from Allah. Time has now run out, so Juma Mubarak to our viewers and have a great weekend and we will inshaAllah in the next session of the programme.

PART 3
TIME 00:00 Hijama Points: Just like for knee pain, we do hijama around the knee, similarly diabetes has its own points, blood pressure has its own points, general well-being has its own points. TIME 01:05 Question from fourth caller: "Where is hijama mentioned in the Quran or hadith?"
