Health Means Wealth

The Sunnah days for wet cupping (hijama) in this month of Muharam are as follows:

Thursday 17th Muharam 1432 - 23rd December 2010

Monday 21st Muharam 1432 - 27th December 2010

Please kindly note that these dates are based on the new, lunar month according to the sighting of the new moon by the naked eye, as cupping (hijama) is a form of worship. These dates may sometimes vary from the calculated, lunar dates.

AlhamdIlah the Sunnah Days are also posted on our website every month:

http://www.healthmeanswealth.co.uk/index.php?pr=Sunnah_Days

Cupping (Hijama) In Its Time Is A Cure For Every Disease

Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Whoever performs cupping (hijama) on the 17th, 19th or 21st day (of the Islamic, lunar month) then it is a cure for every disease." [Saheeh Sunan abi Dawud (3861)].

The Best Days For Cupping (Hijama)

Ibn Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Cupping (hijama) on an empty stomach* is best. It increases the intellect and improves the memory. It improves the memory of the one memorising. So whoever is going to be cupped then on a Thursday in the name of Allaah. Keep away from being cupped on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Be cupped on a Monday or Tuesday. Do not be cupped on a Wednesday because it is the day that Ayoub was befallen with the trial. You will not find leprosy except (by being cupped) on Wednesday or Wednesday night." [Saheeh Sunan ibn Maajah (3488)].

* 'alaa ar-reeq in arabic means to fast until after being treated with cupping. Once the treatment of cupping has been completed, one may eat and drink.

As for the Islamic day and night, the night enters before the day. So at sunset on Tuesday, Wednesday night comes in. Cupping (hijama) is best performed during the daytime between the athaan of fajr and the athaan of maghrib because yawm in arabic means daytime.

The Sunnah days for cupping (hijama) every month are when the 17th or 19th or 21st of the lunar month coincide with a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. These are the best and most beneficial days for cupping (hijama). If one is not able to be cupped on 17th, 19th or 21st (coinciding with Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) then any Monday, Tuesday or Thursday of the month.

Cupping (Hijama) While fasting Or In The State Of Ihram

Abdullah ibn Abbas y reported that the Messenger r was cupped on his head for a unilateral headache while he was in Ihraam. [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5701)].

Abdullah ibn Abbas y reported that the Messenger r was cupped while he was fasting. [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5694)].

Anas ibn Maalik y was asked: "Did you dislike cupping for the fasting person?" He said, "No except for the reason of one becoming weak." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (1940)].

This is not affected by the hadeeth, "The cupper and the one being cupped have broken their fast." [Saheeh see Irwaa al-Ghaleel (931)]. This is because the hadeeth is abrogated as Sheikh al-Albaani and ibn Hazm (may Allah have mercy upon them) showed by the following hadeeth:

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudhree t said, "The Messenger r validated cupping for the fasting person." [Saheeh see Irwaa al-Ghaleel (4/74)].

It appears that cupping (hijama) is allowed but disliked as Anas ibn Maalik y mentioned because the fasting person becomes weak if they perform cupping (hijama) and Allah knows best.

Dry and massage cupping may be performed at any time.

We pray you find this information helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries, comments or feedback.
JazakAllah khair for your support.

The Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Whoever revives a Sunnah from my Sunnah and the people practise it, will have the same reward of those who practise it without their reward diminishing…"

Hijama & Tibb-e-Nabwi (Prophetic Medicine) in Lahore, Pakistan

Hijama & Tibb-e-Nabwi (Prophetic Medicine) in Lahore, Pakistan by Arshad Kamal

The following is a guest blog-post in the form of a written interview by Arshad Kamal, a male cupping therapist from Lahore, Pakistan.

Please give us a short introduction about yourself, and in particular how you ended up being a hijama therapist?

My name is Arshad Kamal & I live in Lahore, I am running my forefather’s plastic industry business since 1970.

My father and my brother were both diagnosed with cancer & they had gone through the painful procedures provided by modern conventional medicine, and at that time, I also tried very hard for some alternative treatments but unfortunately, by the time I became aware of Hijama therapy, it was too late & both of them passed away.

In 2007, my wife was suffering from upper back pain, but she was not willing to get treatment by any unknown person. All of a sudden & by Allah's Will, I found reference of Mr. Hasan Shami & I learnt Hijamah from him & started treatment of my wife. After few sessions, she got cured Alhamdolillah. I decided to start Hijamah at my house & I received many patients from my neighborhood that had different problems, & all of them improved.

- What particular illnesses/ conditions (if any), do you specialize / had the most experience in?

Sciatica, Diabetes, Blood pressure, Cardiac Disease , Arthritis, Hepatitis, Uric Acid, Dengue Fever, Constipation, infertility, sexual disease in men, and general treatment.

- And do you find that in your experience, the conditions/illnesses that you have come across respond well to cupping (hijama) therapy? And if so, what are they?

I have had good response for all of the above mentioned diseases.

- Do you have any interesting case-studies that you can briefly share with us from your hijama treatments?

One of my patients had a motorcycle accident and he suffered with blunt trauma & head injuries, due to which his eyes had the reflection of blood clots and he felt severe headache and blurred vision, his face was swollen. I cupped him on points 34, 35, 105, 104, 101, 108, 109, Akhdain (43, 44) & Kahil (1, 55). After Hijamah, swelling on his face reduced by 80% & he felt a drastic reduction in headache, the results of Hijamah were unbelievable both for me & him.

Dengue fever is widespread in Pakistan currently, & we have treated patients with Hijamah & Tibb-e-Nabwi medicine (major ingredients as Qust al Bahri, Frankincense, Myrrh, Aloe Vera, Mugwort, Olive leaf & Thyme), the results were beyond our expectations & platelets count jumped over 150,000 ~ 230,000. We need to spread the divine medicine as our people are suffering, the expensive conventional medicine (platelet kit) is very expensive in Pakistan (40,000/- Pak Rupees), it is already short & beyond the reach of poor.

- Also what would you say about using cupping as a general preventative therapy and how often would you recommend this (once a month? once/twice a year?)

Depends on the illness and condition of the patient, but it is better to have Hijamah after every 2-3 months.

- As a hijama therapist, how often do you get hijama done yourself, and what for (if any specific condition) and who do you go to get it done (since it is not an easy therapy to self-administer)?

I take Hijamah whenever I feel necessary, usually within 30-60 days, it is far better to take out the septic blood quickly, instead of waiting for 3-6 months, & when you drain regularly; its quantity is reduced at every next session. And because Shifa of Hijamah is in the incisions, it is a pleasure to seek this Shifa as soon as possible. My Hijamah is performed by my wife.

After having consultation from Mr. Hasan Shami, I am doing Hijama with assistance of my collegues, Sheikh Saeed Ahmad, Sheikh Usman, Muhammad Farhan, Rehan Mian. For women, we have never touched a female & their Hijamah is done by my wife (Mrs. Shabana Arshad Kamal), & my daughter Bint-e-Arshad Kamal.

- What is the overall prevalence of hijama therapy in Lahore, Pakistan? Is it available in hospitals and clinics as a valid alternative / Sunnah therapy?

It is not very common in Pakistan, Hijamah therapists manage it at their houses, but as far as I know, there is a hospital in Sukkur which is owned by Dr. Khursheed, he has trained some of his doctors / lady doctors & has opened a special ward for Hijamah therapy where around 50 patients take Hijamah daily, Zoja Roshan Sahib is doing Hijamah in Faisalabad, Mr. Shakir Nagda in Karachi, Mr. Usman Baloch in Lahore and few other therapists in Karachi.

I was recently called by a hospital owner in Mirpur city (Azad Kashmir), where I performed Hijamah in their operation theatre & all the doctors observed the blessed therapy, they were so happy & willing to learn it further & to start Hijamah at their own.

- Where abouts is your clinic or practice located and what services do you offer?

We are offering Hijama therapy combined with Tibb-e-Nabwi (Prophetic Medicine) and food.

We have also developed molds for Hijamah cups & very soon, we shall be presenting a complete Hijamah kit that will be "Made in Pakistan".

- Is there anything else you would like to add?

Tibb-e-Nabwi (Prophetic Medicine) is not the Hijamah alone, it is the combination of healing the heart & body with correct Yaqeen & A'amal-e-Salehaat, foods & herbs recommended by Prophet Muhammad Salallaho alaihe Wasallam & finally Hijamah, put them all together & have the cure for any kind of disease.

Hijama now available at ACT Clinic in Cardiff, Wales

The following are some Frequently Asked Questions about hijama by Dr Rizwhan Suleman (Mchiro) from Cardiff, Wales, a member of the British Cupping Society who now runs a hijama clinic at the Associated Contemporary Therapists (ACT) Clinic in Cardiff.

The information below is reproduced from the following link with the kind permission of the author: http://www.actcardiff.co.uk/therapies/wet_cupping.html

SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HIJAMA:

WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?

Cupping is the modern term for an ancient medical treatment in which a partial vacuum is created in cups that are positioned onto the surface of the body. The vacuum created by either heat or suction draws up skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle layers a few millimetres into the cups.

The negative pressure that translates into the body’s tissues encourages blood flow, the release of toxins and the removal of waste and has been found to affect the body up to four inches deep through the tissues.

The cups can be left in one place on the skin or moved around as part of massage cupping. The treatment can be utilised to influence the movement of bodily fluids such as lymph fluid, venous drainage and the reduction of stagnant flow.

As the treatment uses negative pressure it lifts up muscles and tissues rather than pressing down on them like in conventional massage, it enables the treatment to massage tissues from the inside out. This has beneficial effects on muscles, fascia and skin as well as influencing the deeper organs.

WHAT IS WET CUPPING THERAPY?

Wet cupping is also an ancient medical technique popular amongst Arab cultures.

It utilises the same principles of regular cupping therapy except it allows the release and removal of stagnant blood, toxins, inflammation and swellings through the application of small scratches or pin pricks over the areas where the suction is applied.

This combination of cupping therapy and controlled bloodletting has been utilised for over 3000 years and was a practice the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) promoted and recommended as an inspiration from God. The practice of wet cupping was also an integral part of more recent medical practice as it developed in the Middle East and was used up until the 1800’s even here in the UK.

Although a simplified explanation wet cupping can be likened to a mechanical form of leaching allowing small quantities of blood to be released from swollen and painful areas of the body, to give relief, promote healing and to regain function.

HOW CAN BLEEDING POSSIBLY BE BENIFICIAL?

Many conditions and ailments that we suffer with are related to inflammation. This includes all conditions that end with the word “itis” such as arthritis, tendonitis, gastritis, appendicitis etc. The common factor in all these conditions is that there is too much unwanted inflammation in that area.

This is why anti-inflammatory medication is regularly prescribed by doctors to try and reduce down the amount of this inflammation.

Unwanted inflammation can be simplified as a state in which there is too much blood in an area causing pressure and stagnation preventing the regular flow of nutrient and waste exchange, resulting in pain and compromised natural healing abilities.

If left untreated this can develop into a chronic state in which the reduced blood flow allows the build up of waste, carbon dioxide and acidity, causing further pressure, cell damage, pain, and discomfort leading to more inflammation, perpetuating the problem.

Chemical drugs can be used to reduce down pain and dampen down inflammation but cupping therapy has the unique ability of drawing out inflammation, stagnant blood, cell debris and toxins from deep within the body to the surface of the skin.

By utilising wet cupping therapy this built up pressure can be released through tiny pin pricks or light scratches on the skin. This often gives instantaneous relief and allows fresh blood, nutrients and oxygen to penetrate the area breaking the cycle of pain and discomfort.

Traditionally it has been understood that wet cupping also allows a process of purifying the blood and removing unwanted materials from the system. Many times there are unwanted or high levels of harmful elements in the blood such as cholesterol, uric acid, calcium deposits, rheumatoid factors and chemical messengers that modulate inflammation. By removing these elements you can reduce the problems that they cause and reduce pain, discomfort and inevitably disease.

For this reason wet cupping therapy has been used throughout history to treat a wide range of conditions and even as a preventative medicine. The feeling of wellbeing, looseness in the body and higher levels of energy are common reports of patients undergoing this form of treatment.

WHAT CAN IT HELP?

Although there is very little scientific knowledge on the subject there are Scientific Studies that show wet cupping is an effective treatment for Lower Back pain, Anterior knee pain and Migraine headaches.

Common uses for Cupping therapy include:

• Shoulder pains
• Lower back pain
• Knee pain and stiffness
• Various forms of arthritis
• Adhesive capsulitis (or frozen shoulder)
• Post surgical swellings and pain (Particularly after fractures & Reconstruction surgeries)
• Acute ankle sprains and deep foot pain
• General body tension
• Hormonal problems / lethargy
• Menstrual Pain / infertility
• Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome PCOS
• Lymphedema • Muscular injuries
• Post Trauma Migraines (specifically after Cranial Injury/Surgeries)

Here is what a sports injury patient recently said after having hijama therapy:
Last year a rugby injury left me with constant sharp pains in my left knee. After meeting Dr Rizwhan I had wet cupping therapy performed and I was amazed with the results. The pain literally disappeared as soon as I got up from the treatment bench. The idea of having blood drawn out of my leg was quite daunting at first but I found the therapy quite relaxing, it was as if I could feel the pressure being released
from my joint. I would definitely try this again in the future
- Steven Jenkins, Cardiff, Sept 2010.

IS IT SAFE?

When practiced in a clean and hygienic environment under the guidance of a qualified health professional both cupping and wet cupping are safe and relatively risk free.

A screening of previous medical history and medications is always conducted to ensure that the treatment is suitable for the individual patient. Vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate are also conducted.

In the case of wet cupping all materials used on each patient are single use and disposed of after each treatment eliminating any risks of cross contamination. The small pin pricks or light scratches created to release stagnant blood are so small that they do not release blood after the cups have been removed and are almost always dry by the end of each treatment.

The quantity of blood removed is usually of a very minimal amount and this is usually no more than the quantity taken in a routine blood test. As a general precaution however patients iron levels are always taken into consideration.

DOES IT HURT?

Although wet cupping does involve small breaks in the surface of the skin that can be slightly uncomfortable the sensation is very short lived and quite minimal. Although subjective it is considered by most as being far less painful than having an injection and more comparable to having acupuncture.

DOES IT LEAVE MARKS?

Yes both regular and wet cupping can leave round bruise like marks on the surface of the skin that can stay for approximately two weeks but do gradually fade. In wet cupping this is accompanied by the pin marks or scratches that will completely fade within a similar time frame depending on the individual skin type.

IS THIS A NEW THERAPY AND WHY IS IT NOT WELL HEARD OF?

No the practice of Wet Cupping dates back to as far as history has records. It is one of the oldest time-served medical practices in the world. It was practiced by the Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Chinese and Greeks, including the great Greek physician Hippocrates. It was also practiced extensively by the Arabs after the Muslim Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) described its divine prescription for mans ailments. Wet cupping has its roots in European history also as it was a fundamental part of Medical practice in the UK and in America up until the 1800’s.

In more recent times forms of bloodletting and cupping have become a Hollywood fashion amongst celebrities such as Demi Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow who have publicly revealed their favour of such old medical practices.

WHO PRACTICES WET CUPPING?

Dry cupping therapy is occasionally used by TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioners as well as by various other Disciplines. Wet Cupping Therapy however is currently used far less in the western and far eastern worlds but is a thriving practice amongst traditional Middle Eastern and African nations.

The British Cupping Society is an organisation of clinically trained health professionals and Medical Doctors who perform Wet Cupping Therapy throughout the UK based on a Modern Clinical understanding of health and Science. The BCS was the first society to conduct a scientific investigation into the effects of Cupping Therapy in 2005 and encourages and teaches safe practice amongst its members.

We have female therapists availabe too for the sisters that come for back pain, fertility issues, headaches, skin issues with good results.

A lot of brothers come for a variety of issues but back pain, arthritic pain, manhood problems and hairloss seem to be the most common.

We also perform Hijamah on the head for migraines, stress, anxiety, hairloss.
We still use the pump and blade method which is by far the safest and acceptable one by the CMA (Complementary Medical Association).

Sunnah Days For Cupping (Hijama): Dhul Hijjah 1431 / Nov 2010

Sunnah Days For Cupping (Hijama): Dhul Hijjah 1431 - Information provided by Health Means Wealth
If you are already on their mailing list, then you will have already received an email with the information below from Health Means Wealth. Otherwise please register at http://www.healthmeanswealth.co.uk/index.php?pr=Newsletter to get all such emails in future.

Health Means Wealth

The Sunnah days for wet cupping (hijama) in this month of Dhul Hijjah are as follows:

Tuesday 17th Dhul Hijjah 1431 - 23rd November 2010

Thursday 19th Dhul Hijjah 1431 - 25th November 2010

[Sunan ibn Maajah (209)].

Please add us to your 'contacts' so that our newsletters are not received as spam.

JazakAllah khair.

Case Study: Hijama Treatment for Infertility

Case Study: Hijama Treatment for Infertility - by Dr Nazri Nizar

The following is a hijama case study kindly contributed by Dr Nazri Nizar, a male cupping therapist from Colombo, Sri Lanka

Allaah Blessess a childless mother for 15 year after Hijama Therapy – Al Hamdu Lillaah

Patient: Mareeha (Not the real name)- Lady from Sri Lanka living in Saudi Arabia:

Age: 37 year old female

Place of treatment: Colombo, Sri Lanka

Hijama Treatment for: Infertility performed under the supervision of Dr. Nazri Nizar assisted by Mrs Nasabi Jeffry.

What is infertility?: A certain biological inability to become pregnant

This Muslim lady patient from Sri Lanka lives in Saudi Arabia where her husband works. She has been married for over 15 years without a child. On a holiday to Sri Lanka, this lady had visited a relative who is known to our family. The relative, seeing the sadness on her face, quietly asked her whether she had any knowledge of Hijama Therapy. The patient replied having heard about the therapy but did not know fully well what it was all about. I had a call from the lady who quietly inquired with me whether she could visit us with a patient who is on a holiday. I agreed.

Accompanying the patient to our house, the patient was introduced to our family. I together with my wife discussed the history of the patient and had the opportunity of introducing Hijama therapy and the numerous benefits to be derived from it.

Although, a bit reluctant at the initial stage, the patient finally agreed to undergo the therapy saying “lets give it a try, nothing to lose” as she had previously tried many therapies without much success. An appointment was fixed for the therapy the next day. The patient was advised to have her meals a bit early and to come 4 hours later for the treatment.

As usual after seeking Allaah’s Blessings, we prepared the patient. Evaluating the numerous points, instructions were given to my wife who did the job pretty well under my supervision. The patient responded well during the therapy and we were able to accomplish the task without any difficulties Al Hamdu Lillaah.

The patient having returned to Saudi Arabia at the end of the vacation and a few months later in the middle of the night, the telephone near my bed was ringing and I picked up the phone and answered. This was that patient from Saudi Arabia brimming with joy. She said "Al Hamdu Lillaah doctor, I have conceived for the first time and as a mark of thanks giving, will be performing Haj this year Jazakallahu Khair" was what this lady uttered as she hung up the phone.

As per the medical rules, patient in this situation must abstain from any kind of tough physical endurances but Allaah has willed that she will have a miscarriage due to taking some injections prescribed for those intending to perform Haj Rituals.

Unfortunately she had to face the saddest situation. It was a miscarriage and she was in a terrible agony once again.

After some time she conceived again, and this time the lady was blessed with a baby girl Maashallaah. We were informed of it recently.

11 NOVEMBER, 2010: UPDATE TO THIS POST
Since quite a few people have commented asking for more details on the treatment, Dr Nizar has provided the following information:

The treatment involves besides hijama, a local decoction is prepared using medicinal herbs to clear the placenta/womb so as to regularize the periods.

Then Hijama is done the points basically will be: 1, 55, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 49, 120, 125, 126 and under the knees on both legs. (To get an idea of hijama points, please refer to the following example charts courtesy of Health Means Wealth, bearing in mind that charts may slightly vary depending on the therapist)

Massage cupping on the stomach area is recommended.

Before the treatment, we advised two rakaa's of Istikhara by both the husband and wife.

Please note this is for information only and as usual any treatment should only be carried out by a competent therapist who is either trained, qualified and / or experienced in that particular treatment.

Bloodcupping therapist from the Republic of Singapore

Bloodcupping therapist from the Republic of Singapore by Feisal Khan

The following is a guest blog-post in the form of a written interview by Feisal Khan a male cupping therapist from Singapore.

1. Please give us a short introduction about yourself, and in particular how you ended up being a hijama therapist?

My name is Feisal Khan, age fourty-three. My birth date is 02.03.1967. I was born in the Republic of Singapore. At the age of twenty-seven, I joined the muslim missionary for the propagation of Islam to the Republic of Indonesia. While in the Island of Sulawasi, Indonesia, I learned “Blood cupping” from a group of Pakistani missionary. I was able to have many practical experiences due to the missionary activities. As I came to know more of it as a “sunnah”, it gives me implicit desire to improve and help others. I managed to do self-study on reflexology. As a “two-way” traffic system, I performed Bloodcupping, together with reflexology in my therapy. Blood cupping, which is known as “Bekam” in the Malay language is much accepted in this part of this region.( South-East Asia) In Indonesia, this practice is known as “Kop”.

2. What particular illnesses/conditions (if any do you specialize/had the most experience in?

Stroke patients,( combination with reflexology for quicker recovery) Migraine, Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Back pain, Pain management (minimize pain from Injury), Improvement in the cure of Tumor- Cancer cells (management) Improve circulation of blood in the body.

3. What is your experience in the field of Hijama that you can speak volumes of its effectiveness?

From the days of volunteerism from the year 2003-2004, I had performed Bloodcupping together with reflexology for many patients. In the year 2005, I started a clinic under the name of “Singapura Darul Iman- School of Healings” the primary aim being to introduce Bloodcupping as a form of alternative therapy. Due to operating cost I ceased operation. I am providing my services from home. Al’hamdulliah, with all humbleness, till this day I had performed “Bloodcupping” for about 4,700 patient. Many are grateful for my help and services in providing this sunnah.

4. As a Hijama therapist, how often do you get hijama done yourself, and what for (if any specific condition) and who do you go to get it done (since it is not easy to self-administer)?

Keeping fit and maintaining good health is of paramount importance for all therapists. My wife performs Hijama on me. I will have it done almost every forty day interval. My wife is a therapist, performing Bloodcupping on ladies only.

5. Where is your clinic and how to contact you?
Presently, I am operating from home with little cost. Thus I am able to charge minimal toall my patients. The charge is about USD 30 for whole body cupping per session (21 cups or more) together with reflexology. Additional cuppings on other parts of the body (legs/hands) is not chargeable. My address is Block 19 # 03-25 Bedok South, Republic of Singapore. I am illiterate in computer’s knowledge. I do own a computer. Thus all my communication is made through telephone. I highly recommend all to go for “Bloodcupping”, because it is a sunnah of our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Please contact me for any clarification or should you need any advice in this matter. My Mobile Handphone is +65 93224297. Alternatively, you may contact my friend - Mr Mohamed Farouq Basha Ibn Abdul Khader, at his mobile number +65 96230808 or email him at akm1956@singnet.com.sg. He will liaise with me. Please, Welcome to visit my country and experience the warmth and smile of the multi-racial people of the “Republic of Singapore”.

6. What is the overall prevalence of Hijama therapy in Singapore? Is it available in hospitals and clinics as a valid alternative/Sunnah therapy?

It is not available in Government or private clinics as an alternative therapy. From traditional medicine arena, this is being provided by the Malay community by individual therapist. The Chinese traditional doctors known as “sinseh” provide cupping (dry/wet) on a large scale, which is called “gua-sha”: The Indians community living here, do not provide such activities at all, except dispensing traditional Indian medicine known as “Ayurveda” medicines.

7. What is your hope and aspiration for this “cure” the sunnah which is being pushed into obscurity?

This is a miracle cure, the result is immediate. I sincerely wish and hope many people all over the world will experience this therapy, known for its efficaciousness. Let no Muslims be ignorant of this great sunnah. It has with it the hidden secret of curing and maintaining good health. As a smallest act, if you do not merely see it as a “cure”, just do it to copy the act of our “beloved prophet” – Muhammad (SAW). My vision and mission, is to spread this sunnah for the benefit of all mankind and all must be able to afford this form of cure.

8. What are the dates/times and how often is this cure recommended?

The days of sunnah are on the 17th, 19th, 21st (of the months of the lunar calendar). When the prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his companions were poisoned by a Jew woman, Al-Hijama was done immediately on him and other companions. There was an instance where he falls from the horse, and Al-Hijama was administered to remove the clot and pain. When one is badly sick, immediate attention/treatment must be given, then it does not matter about any date/days ( E.g. Blood pressure with blur vision, Stroke due to clot in the brain and others - immediate attention must be given). The actions by our prophet shows that flexibility may be exercised, where and when necessary. Not many are able to strictly follow the dates of sunnah due to various commitments. Days of sunnah are a fine guidance. We are not breaking the rules but bending the rule by examples of our prophet in the modern era. So either way , you are not wrong. Blood cupping is advisable to perform in the morning when the flow of blood is vigorous upwards. It is encouraged to do Bloodcupping on an an empty stomach to derive maximum effectiveness. To maintain good health it is recommended to have bloodcupping at an interval of fourty days (or more often). This may vary for those with different types of diseases and as per the ability of an individual (strength). Views expressed here are based on my experiences.
